Couple Therapy
"The bottom line is that we all want to create meaningful connections with others. Human connection and being seen by another person is a fundamental experience"
Esther Perel, 2016
People seek couple therapy for many different reasons which may include:
-
Loss of trust
-
Intimacy problems
-
Conflict with different values
-
Parenting styles and infidelity
Couples often take relationships for granted and therefore infrequently discuss their expectations or even their understanding of what it means to be in a relationship. Expectations are often different and this may lead to unhappiness or loneliness for one or both and resultant disconnection or blame (for needs not met). Often at these times affairs/ infidelity occur and frequently when couples seek therapy.
Working with couples is a collaborative process - facilitating an exploration and re-negotiation within a safe and conflict free environment.

The theory underpinning my practice is based in the narrative therapy paradigm.
I strive to provide a safe, contained environment for people to navigate through the maze of their lives. Working collaboratively we seek to discover alternative more comfortable ways of seeing, understanding, relating and being in the world.
